Have you ever found a lovely bouquet of flowers at the grocery store and somewhere between taking them out of the wrapper and plopping them into a vase their beauty somehow gets lost?
I’ve been seeing this neat trick for years and finally decided to give it a try. After you get your bouquet home, trim off all the leaves past the height of the vase you’ll be using. Wide mouthed vases with a more narrow base tend to work better for fuller bouquets.
Then, create a tic-tac-toe grid using clear tape on the mouth of the vase. To create thinner strips, I cut my tape in half lengthwise. Start with the most dominant (usually the largest) flower in the center. Then put in the second most dominant flowers grouped together yet staggered around the main flower.
Next, add in your smaller, filler flowers and then finally the filler greens. My bouquet isn’t quite looking professional but it’s a big step up from my original arrangement. And I can’t wait to try this technique again with the next bouquet of flowers I get!
