When I moved in to my new house, The basement had a collection of old, heavy glass bulbs that, when they burned out, I couldn’t bear to throw away. They were just too cool. And since they were the last non-florescent bulbs to go, I’ve been saving them for a special craft. Something really fun that would do them justice. Here are a few of my top contenders.
Repurposed Lightbulb Hot Air Balloons – Rook No. 17
These light bulb hot air balloons are just too stinking cute. And the would be perfect in my daughters room, hanging from her ceiling. A little magical, a little whimsical, just like her. Plus I love that it uses fabric scraps (who doesn’t have a stash of those hanging around?) to create that funky, old world look. Utterly charming.
How to Make a Valentine Lightbulb – Apartment Therapy
This little treat is a must for me. I can’t wait to give it to my husband as a little love reminder for his desk. It’s cute and sweet but modern and funky at the same time. And depending on what kind of stand you use the overall look could be customized to a persons taste easily. But best of all, it’s just lovely.
5 DIY Money Gifts for Graduates – Good Housekeeping
This graduation lightbulb gift is so clever, what a great way to give your grad a little cash and a pat on the back at the same time. Later the same bulb (empty of the money of course) could be turned into a simple vase for their desk. A little green to keep them happy while they work. Fantastic!
