After Halloween is a great time to pick up some pumpkins to decorate for Thanksgiving. A great fall harvest should be celebrated with a display of beautiful pumpkins and gourds. I enjoy this decorated pumpkin for after the jack-o-lanterns are over. It sits on our doorstep awaiting the crowd of people headed to our house for the big turkey feast.
I used a fake pumpkin so it can be used year after year. First I chose a font that I liked and printed the initial I wanted. I cut it out and taped it to the pumpkin. Then trace the letter onto the pumpkin. Remove the paper letter. Next mix up the orange, yellow and white paint so it is the color of the inside flesh of the pumpkin. Then fill the traced letter in with the paint. Once dry, spray it was a clear coat if you are planning on placing it outside in the weather.
From a distance the pumpkin gives the appearance of being carved and is an elegant way to adorn the house for fall.
