I was not then, and am still not, real fond of Tootsie Rolls. We lived in the country and didn’t do a lot of trick-or-treating. But we had a teacher who had a blast planning Halloween parties. He made for some really fun family nights!

Wow Jean I was thinking about the same, I have never liked Tootsie Rolls and when I received a bunch of them it was very sad.

Peanut Butter Kisses! The ones that come wrapped in black or orange waxed paper. My Sister and I used to refer to them as “Do Do Candies”. Our Grandfather used to eat them all while we cringed.

Yes black licorice. To this day I cannot stand the smell of it as I got alot of it when I was a kid. Also candy corn….gross.

I can’t remember what it was called but there was a maple taffy candy with a peanut butter center I never liked. Oh – and black licorice.

  14. Cathy Sobotka :

I don’t like peanut butter, so I did not like to get Reece’s peanut butter cups or other candy with peanut butter in it. Thanks for the chance to win.

  17. Terry :

I hated hard candy or suckers–Tootsie Pops were OK. We used to go home and put the unwanted candy in the bowl to hand out, then go collect more good stuff. Peanut Blossoms in the orange and black paper are yummy.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  18. Kelly Massman :

I’m with the majority–those peanut butter type taffy in the orange and black wrappers…

I have never like Tootsie Rolls. And there is always a huge amount of those given out.

Candy Corn sucks! Haha, I know that’s mean, but it’s really disappointing when you’re little to get nasty candy.

  24. Kristina :

Almond Joy & Mounds, not too crazy about coconut in candy.

  25. Nancy :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 2:30 PM

I am the youngest of three, so when my brother and sister got too old to go trick or treating they dragged me all over to get lots of candy. Unfortunately most of it went to them! But I can remember that none of us really liked the apples or pennies that we got.

  26. Pamela Sells :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 2:32 PM

i always have disliked getting lollipops of any kind size or shape.

  27. Maria Shehan :

The only kind of candy I did not enjoy at Halloween was Toffey. I hate the taste……

  28. Katie Menon :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 3:40 PM

For me — it was Almond Joy candy bars or anything that even smelled like it had coconut in it. I had no trouble giving that to someone else.

  29. Isabel Gonzalez :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 3:58 PM

There was this taffy looking stuff wrapped in black or orange waxed paper…nasty

  30. Alice C. :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 4:01 PM

Way way back then, all the candy was regular size and wonderful. The worst, for me, were the bruised apples and the (gack) sticky, gooey, homemade popcorn balls.

  31. Christina Poindexter :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 4:02 PM

I remember the penny candy, and loved licorice. I am all about chocolate covered nuts and fruit.

  32. L. Ann :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 4:53 PM

For me always it was (and still is!) all about the chocolate. Any other candy runs a poor second choice.

  33. Nelda C :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 4:54 PM

Back in my days it was the homemade popcorn balls and gum.

  34. Andrea B. :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 5:06 PM

Those disgusting molasses kisses……. Still can’t even stomach the smell……

  35. Julie Panusis :

    Date: October 12, 2012 @ 5:45 PM

I never liked candy corn. I would rather eat real corn. The candy kind was so sweet that it made my teeth ache.

  36. Sheila Staves :

sheez I should have hung out with all the commentors that said they didn’t like licorice, almond joy candy bars and the peanut butter taffy things in the orange/black waxy papers. lol i love those! What i can’t stand is generic hard candy wrapped in clear wrappers, no flavor, just sugar. Happy Halloween everybody! marie

I didn’t like getting apples! but /I remember being invited into the homes and offered hot chocolate and cookies in lieu of candy… How nice it was in those long ago days when we didn’t have to worry about ulterior motives, etc. /we could just be children…..

  40. Janet Whittig :

  41. Susan :

I didn’t like suckers… and a lot of people gave those out. When we were quite young we got apples so had to go home early to not have bruised ones!

  42. Trisha Walls :

Wasn’t really too excited with the double bubble that was sooooo hard, that it felt like it would break your teeth. I knew that it was probably from the leftovers from the year before. LOL!

There were 4 of us kids and not much candy in between holidays, but at the end of the night on Halloween we would empty our sacks out and the trading would start! I never wanted the apples.

  48. Jessi Rich :

    Date: October 13, 2012 @ 7:51 PM

I never went trick or treating, but I eat my fair share of Halloween candy. And let me tell you… candy corn? NOT a fan =)

  49. Crystal Lynn Kamm :

  51. Krystel Sánchez :

Halloween candy that I didn’t like to get… were many.

Every Halloween I would end up with a full Bag of those Orange and Black candies that didn’t even have a NAME! Plus they made all the good candy all sticky! EEWWW!
Good and Plenty were disgusting! Who would enjoy pink and white licorice PILLS!
Chocolate coins were probably given by people who saved them for TWO years and then given to kids. They always tasted OLD!
A combination of sticky and old were the Strawberry Hard candy. Cute wrapper because of it looks like the fruit but the taste… not so pleasant.
Regular Tootsie Rolls were alright but who asked for the TOOTSIE FRUIT ROLLS? Yuck!
And last… the oh so common CANDY Corn.
Color matches the Halloween Theme but I was never a FAN(G) of them.
