You may consider picking up a photo frame as a souvenir while on vacation, but a much better option is to make your own vacation themed frame. All you’ll need is a few items from your trip and a little time to make a memento that’s much less expensive than something you would purchase in a store.
What you’ll need:
- Plain wood picture frame
- Map or photos of location
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush (optional)
Step 1. Choose a map or photos you want to use for the border of your frame. I chose photos from a map of Hawaii – two sides of flowers and two sides of the water currents around the islands.
Step 2. Remove the cardboard backing on the frame, then trace the frame onto the back of the photos you want to use.
Step 3. Cut out the piece you just traced, but be careful to cut exactly on the lines.
Step 4. Coat the entire frame in Mod Podge, then slowly place the paper over the frame smoothing it out as you go along. Push out any glue and air bubbles so there’s a smooth even surface. Give the frame a few hours to dry before moving onto the next step.
Step 6. Let the frame lay flat to dry for at least several hours.
