Put on some play clothes and let’s get dirty!! There are tons of kits out there to make these, but here is how we made a garden stone for pennies!
Get some stepping stone mix (or cement mix) and then get some gems and marbles or rocks! These look lovely in the garden alongside the summer flowers, but they make extremely thoughtful and inexpensive gifts as well!
What you will need:
- Cement mixture, stepping stone mix or plaster of paris
- Rocks, marbles, gems, etc…
- Mold of some sort. If you don’t have a plastic mold, you can line a cookie sheet with some plastic wrap and use that.
Directions:
Clean all the rocks, marbles, and gems. Allow to dry. Mix the cement or plaster of paris according to the package. Pour the mixture into a mold or a cookie tin lined with wax paper.
Allow to set for about three minutes. Put your child imagination to work! As the mold slowly hardens, have your child create designs with any material or object desired!
